Ask The Pros: Team Impulse's Adrian

Ask The Pro is an ongoing series on, where we ask a pro player questions from the community. The player then picks the next pro the community will get to ask questions. Be sure to follow us on Twitter to submit your questions for the next Q&A!

In our last Ask The Pros interview, we talked with Enemy Esports' AD carry, Brian "Otter" Baniqued about playing against the best ADCs in NA and hopefully one day owning an otter..

He also had a question for Team Impulse's support Adrian "Adrian" Ma.

Otter: What motivates you to play competitively?

Adrian: To be the best at whatever I decide to do. I don't want to be seen as a person who gives up, so I will always give it my all.

First Year in the LCS

Pam: What is your ultimate career goal? Are you happy so far?

A: To be considered a top support player. I want to earn my spot on a top team. I'm not satisfied with how I performed this season, but since it's my first year it shouldn't be a surprise to most.

Sean: What made you decide to get into professional League?

A: I believed I was good at playing League, so I didn't want to waste my talent and regret it later.

Ender: If you had to play a different role for one LCS game, what role would you play and which champion?

A: When I have to play another role in Solo Queue, it's usually mid. I like to play Twisted Fate because I can roam around the map and help my team snowball.

Alex: Hi, Adrian! What support champion do you least like playing?

A: My least favorite champion to play competitively is Alistar, but he's just too good of a pick right now.

Jiraffe: Which LCS supports do you respect the most, and why?

A: Team SoloMid's Jang-sik "Lustboy" Ham because he has so much experience and knowledge. He's really smart and always has me wondering what he's going to do next.

Impulsive Days

Scott: What's the most important thing you've learned from your time at Team Impulse?

A: Being a pro gamer is real job. You might not always like the people that you work with, but you just have to get over it and do your best.

Pete: How good is TIP's cross-lane communication during an LCS match?

A: I think our early game communication is very good. We can always set up four-man dives and easily snowball games. But when it gets to mid and late game, it can become more sloppy and indecisive.

Sam: What do you think makes the biggest difference in Team Impulse's success, on a game-to-game basis?

A: How strong each player's mentality is going into each game. If there's any doubt of us winning, we're already at a huge disadvantage.

Denny: Why, in your opinion, did Team Liquid beat you in the 3rd place series?

A: We didn't know how to close out games that we had a lead in. If we had won the first game, I think we would've won off of the momentum. But the first loss really slowed us down.

We Think He Likes Soraka

Highnoon: How did you know that Soraka was the right pick in that team comp in the 3rd place game? How can I know when it's a good/bad time to pick Soraka?

A: Soraka is an all-around strong champion, but has a semi-weak early game. Once you're level six, you should be fine. Soraka does exceptionally well at late-game team fighting, so if you know you can survive the early lane phase, pick her!

Lena: Who's your favorite Support champion to play in LCS and in Solo Queue?

A: Soraka!

Robert: What do you think of Elise support?

A: Elise is a strong champion so she could be a niche support.

Josh: When playing Bard support, what Runes should I run, and what ADCs should I team up with?

A: Standard support tank runes should be fine. You don't need to run anything special with Bard. I like to play Bard with a champion like Ashe, because you can stack your ultimates to catch people out late game.

Harrison: What do you think of Daerek "LemonNation" Hart's support Karma and support Olaf?

A: I think they're only strong in the lane phase and you really need to snowball to be effective.

Etienne: Hi, I'm a support-only player. What pick would you recommend spamming to climb in Solo Queue?

A: Soraka is OP! Get all the free LP while you can!

Adrian Says No to Many People

Yuri "KEITH" Jew: Can you duo with me please?

A: Sorry, I only duo with starters!

Maria: When are you going to dye your hair red?

A: Never! I ruined my hair enough before.

Domingo: Do you watch anime? What are your favorites?

A: Nope, I don't watch any. Sorry. I watch a lot of Korean dramas though!

Max: What is your favorite type of music?

A: I like anything calm and soothing.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

A: Reliable, loyal, and impatient.

LoLesports: What pro player do you want to answer questions next?

A: H2K's support Raymond "KaSing" Tsang: What do you want to improve on as an individual before Worlds?

Josh Augustine's favorite champion is obviously Soraka, he's never enjoyed a Darius, and he will always go for the kill, even when he knows he shouldn't. He currently works as a game designer on EverQuest Next at Daybreak Games. He’d love to talk with you on Twitter.
